Is Mazda 3 ground clearance lower than comparable cars such as Toyota Corolla or Honda Civic?

I'm going to buy a used 2004-2008 Mazda 3, but one of my friends told me that Mazda cars usually hit bumper and other obstacles on roads.

My 2009 Mazda3 went over 100,000 miles without ever having an issue with clearance. I strongly suspect the Mazda3, Civic, Corolla, and any other cars in this class all have a very similar amount of ground clearance.

 

They're all around 5-5.5" of clearance.
