Default mazda 3 exhaust question sedan/hatchback

Hi
Sorry fir the strange question.
My 1st post to the forum, pardon me if this has already been talked about previously. I couldn't find anything in the search.

I have a 2012 Mazda 3 hatchback with skyactiv engine.

I have opportunity to purchase a used cork-sport exhaust, cat back from a 2012 sedan with same engine.

Can anyone tell me? will it fit? and if not what modifications would have to be made?

I've heard responses both ways. Wondering if anyone can say definitively what would need to be altered for this too work?

Thanks for any all responses in advance

Regards
Dave

If you measure the distance from the front of the rear wheel well to the rear bumper, my understanding is the two cars will yield a very different measurement. Assuming my understanding is correct, then an exhaust from a sedan will most likely not fit your car.

The sedan is actually 1.64" longer than the hatchback. Going from a sedan to a hatch, the system would have to be shortened at the tailpipe. From hatchback to sedan, lengthened... and that's a step you don't want to miss especially if you relish your rear bumper cover.

Hi Everyone.

Well, picked up the corksport sedan exhaust for the hatchback we have and installed it.
Everything matches perfectly, as expected. (hangers, bends etc.) the sedan pipe is quite a bit longer.

Took it over to the local stainless muffler guy and had him cut off 4 inches from the tailpipe section.
All good now, son is a happy camper with the sound. Mom is not
