Default Mazda 3/Axela 2004 1.5L Knock Sensor - Need Help

Hi everyone,

Had a fault code for a faulty Knock Sensor pop up.

Have a 2004 Mazda 3/Axela 1.5L Hatch, and looking for help on how to go about replacing this.

Can anyone confirm the position of the knock sensor, I believe it is under the intake manifold at the front of the vehicle?

Cheers

I think you are correct with its location, and requires removal of the intake manifold. Good idea to replace the PCV while you're at it.

Hi,

Cheers for that.

Any chance you have a guide or advice for the intake manifold removal? Can't find anything online for the Mazda Axela 1.5L

Reckon I need to drain the cooling fluid or could work around it?

Same engine as a 2008-2014 1.5 DE Mazda 2.

Apart from possible coolant lines to the throttle body, you don't need to drain coolant.
