So I have found a lot of treads of this problem for the older model. But not for the gen 3 as I have.
The DPF light came on yesterday driving high speed on the motorway. I was out trying to clear some other fault lighting up the instrument board, and they seem to be gone know. But on my way return the DPF did after a while start flashing also. Could this be the simple service reset that’s missing? It has 3000km to next service (drives 20000 between)
I’m scared to just send it to Mazda if they tell me that the DPF needs replacement..
I think the reason why the light came on is because of serval regenerations failures.
can I perform this manual and reset the lamp my self?

DPF light flashes when particulate filter is getting clogged..
first stage : the dpf light comes on (not flashing)
second stage : flashing
If you keep on driving , your car will reach a point where no exhaust gasses will be able to exit the car. (aka a costly pain in the ... to repair)
So do not drive your car anymore.

So..you're right, regeneration is not taking place.(or not sufficiently)
this has other causes..

What error codes do you see when connecting forscan (with a obd2 to usb cable and laptop)

Try to carry out a manual regeneration with forscan, it will not work when other things are wrong..

I'd then first look into your exhaust pressure sensors (yes there are 2 of them)
they both failed in my 2.2 D gen 3 from 2014 …
it.s easily accessible from the engine bay..

 

1st step is getting it scanned for fault codes. This will allow complete and correct diagnosis.
