Mazda 3 2008 AT 2.3 grumbling noise
Hey guys. I hope this is the correct place to post this. So i have a 2008 mazda 3 that started making a loud groaning and rumbling noise when it is on drive. I thought it was the infamous motor mounts that usually go bad but they look fine and i figured the motor mount would not be prejudice if the car was in reverse or drive and would act up regardless of the gear it is in. I even tried revving the engine while in park and nuetral and the car does not shake or make any abnormal noise. It only makes the noise when it is on drive and not moving, and also when it is moving. When i make left turns, the noise is almost conpletely gone, when i make right turns it gets louder. I lifted the front on jack stands with a friend and moved the steering wheel from one side to another and it makes the grumbling noise louder while the car is in drive. The intermediate shaft has some play but i heard it was normal, but the bearing that connects the cv axle and the intermediate shaft makes a little noise. I just wanted to hear some opinions from people who may have experienced something similar before i start buying parts. Thanks in advance!
EDIT: Forgot to mention all the noise comes from the passanger side.

I think you've hit the nail on the head. The output shaft bushing is likely worn to the point of being oblong, in the direction most traveled, forward, and needs to be replaced. And don't forget a new seal as well!! LOL
Just my 0.02.
