But when I was ready to pull out the engine, I found out a problem. An engine flywheel is attached to the engine side, not to the transmission and comes out with a torque converter so there is not enough room to move the engine to the passenger side and remove the flywheel and torque converter from the transmission housing (picture attached). Somebody told me that the proper way is to remove the engine with transmission attached but the video above demonstrates that is not necessarily the case. Am I missing some important details? Can I remove the engine the without transmission?
Also, the torque convertor needs to be unbolted from the flexplate ( flywheel ) prior to separating the engine & trans, otherwise you will have a huge ATF spillage & potential damage the convertor & / or transmission.
