Default Knock sensor and eating oil problem

Hi all,

does anybody knows is there some connection between broken knock sensor and engine burning oil?

My engine light turned on and diagnostics said that there is some error with knock sensor. I haven't fixed it yet because my mechanic said not to worry about that(engine light goes off when I start the car for the fourth time and goes on again if car is not started for some period of time, for example overnight). Then I noticed that my car is burning oil ( 1l per 1000-1200km). There is no oil spot on the ground. Can broken knock sensor cause that or my car is burning oil because of something else? Do anybody have any idea what can cause oil burning?

Car is:
Mazda 3 sport 1.4, 85HP, 106000km, year 2004.

1 liter of oil burning off per 1100km? that's uh... about a quart in 750-ish miles (in ye olden english).

That's a lot of oil. Burning off a quart of oil between changes is normal enough. But not an entire crankcase full.

A faulty knock sensor won't cause you to burn oil. But I do suspect you have an engine problem which is causing excessive oil burning, and possibly making your knock sensor unhappy.
