k&n air filter
I have had a K&N filter before and am getting one again, I never had any problems with mine, and everyone i know that has either the intake or just air filter, no problems. the CAI for the 3i w/2.0L adds 4.8HP@6500rpm according to K&N's website, that is with there pipe. The unit is $238 i believe.
I have a AEM cold air intake on mine (2006 Mazda 3, 2.3L) It cost about $250. Installing was a piece of cake,..but remove the stock air intake was a MAJOR pain in my ***...took like 45 minutes to remove the stock stuff, and only 5 mintues to install the AEM intake system. Not sure how much HP i picked up,..but it feels alittle spunkier,..more so at highway speed, when i stomp it down.

i was browsing around and found this intake filter by AEM. It is a dryflow synthetic filter which requires no oil coating. It's supposed to be really easy to clean, too, with just water. I was thinking about getting one of these because i have had problems with the oil from the K&N cone filter on my CAI contaminating sensors (MAS and and temp. sensor). Anyone have one of these on their car? How does it work? How often do you clean it?
I dont have the CAI, just the air filter for replacing the stock one. Never had a problem with oil getting onto anything, since the oil is sprayed on the bottom of the filter, the side facing the intake hose, the oil should not come thru to the other side, going up into the hose going to the intake manifold, if it is, you are putting to much oil on it. For the cone filter, I dont know exactly how much oil should be applied to the filter. How are going to custom make one tracker
