K&N air filter = 20+ extra driving miles!
I recently installed a K&N air filter to improve gas mileage. Before installation I would get approx. 320 miles (2005 2.3 4dr. Auto), and the needle would be below E. I am currently at 342 miles and the needle is above E with the light on. I have noticed the increase in power also.

My driving habits haven't changed. I actually drove the car harder because of the extra power. I am going to put in a K&N air intake and try to get the car up to 30mpg.

I ordered the filter from advanced auto parts and it cost me $36 USD. Money well spent. I recommend this to anyone trying to save at the pump.

SomeM3 drivershave had the lubricant from the K&N filter get into their intake system and cause problems. I don't know if they over-lubed it, but I have read in several placesabout thisproblem occuring. Hopefully, it won't happen to you, Lev.
30 mpg would be very good mileage for the 2.3, assuming your not talking pure highway.

I have a K&N in my F150, you really need to be careful when you clean and re-oil it.
BTW my 2008.5 with the stick is averaging 30-32 with mixed city and hwy, so I should be able to get 32-34 with the K&N.

I Work in Maryville, the whole 1 end of my trip is all stop lights. My F150 gets around 20 to 21 highway and it gets 16 to 18 going back and forth to work. Any stopping and starting, even at a stop sign takes mileage away.
I would say that my trip is 30% city 70% highway/rural 2 lane.
