I own a Mazda 3 2.5L from 2016. I have been trying to open the trunk for 2 days now. the button on the trunk releases a lock and allows the door to wiggle, yet I can actually open the door, I can just push it down to click it closed. Does anyone know if this is a quick fix?

 

I'd say no. Sounds like something is rusted or broken, so it might be time to replace the mechanism. From my experience, it's far easier to just replace it with a good used one, or a new one than to try and fix it yourself.
And you may consider professional help. I hate paying for something I can do myself, but sometimes it's the best course of action.

Perhaps shoot a crap ton of WD-40 into the mechanism and see if it can break loose the issue. Can't hurt to try.
