Default How to "drive" your atx

For those who know what i like to do in my spare time u can pretty much know why i am making this thread. For those who dont know its to help u beat that riced out 2.2 cavi, neon, etc and im bored and wanna see how many people wanna complain on how street racing is wrong and blah blah blah, but after what happend at the track last night i could care less. All this is about knowing how to get the most out of your car.

On the street
First tip: Go faster-never ever ever ever race in full automatic, you would have a better chance of putting it in N and push it up a hill
Second tip: Reduse energy leech-turn off heat/ac, roll up windows, and if u wanna go extreme lol, turn off radio
Third tip: Know when to shift and downshift- For those of us with 4spd dont even worry about getting to it, from a roll try staying at 60-65mph in third @ 4grand then drop it in into 2nd. When doing a low speed roll like 15-20mpg leave it in 1st @ 4grand and then just mash it. Best shift point is 6800-7000.
Fourth tip: Know your cars strength and weakness- As u might have found out these cars suck *** at the line, your lucky if u break traction, but if u have do from a dig hold the break then hold the gas till u reach 2grand then go. If your like me u wanna pretend to have a mtx of let off the gas between shifts when in "manual" mode (which i have been doing since the day i got the car) but it dont help win races although i did get a surprisingly close 1/4mi time vs. shifting at 7grand while still on the gas, guess im just a good driver lol, anyway from a roll is your best bet in any race and even though speed limiter is set pretty low, its still possible to run a 1/4mi on the street from a roll.

At the track
First tip: Buruouts are unessarry since we dont dont have enough tq to break traction plus a stupid etb and cant turn off traction control and try yo aviod the waterbox
Secong tip: If u do break traction and your mostly stock, leave cuz the track officals are slacking
Third tip: Like i said before when lauching from the line, hold brake then hodl gas till 2grand then go, also known as "brake boosting" for turboed cars
Forth tip: Shift it by yourself and do it in between 6800 and 7grand.

Thats all

ive tried running to 6500 but i ended up losing by more, i raced my friends atx eclipse GT, and i lose by a fender when i run out to 6800-7 from a dig and kick his *** from a 1st gear roll, but i tried to shift at 6500 from a dig and a roll and got my *** handed to me by like 1 1/2 cars.

u guys should know. with the 2.3L I4. its best to rev to 7000 (yes, 7000) in 1st. this way ull drop into a more favorable powerband at 2nd gear. personally id never rev past redline. but u get the point.

and how about u guys just get an MTX. much better [8D]
