Default HID aftermarket kit, need help

Hi, I was wondering if anyone has installed an aftermarket HID kit in a 2004 Mazda 3. I am having problems with the lights flickering when the daytime running lights are on but no problem when full light is on. I wanted to disconnect the DRL module but wanted to know if anyone had any other recomendations.

Also, i heard that these kits are illigal. Any comments on this.

PS I live in Canada so if anyone has any opinions on the legality of these kits please only tell me about canadian laws.

Thanks alot

up to a certian point here in the states i believe that 10000k and up is for off road use only but then again ANY performance upgrades that dont come from factory is illegal.

The reason your lights are flickering during the day is because the DRL runs on a lower amount of voltage than the regular headlights. You need to bypass the DRL and draw power for your ballasts directly from the battery. www.xenonexpert.com sells a DRL bypass so check them out.

As far as legality I can't really speak for Canadian laws.

Tracker, in the US ALL aftermarket HID kits are illegal. Also please don't confuse higher kelvin ratings with more light output. The higher the kelvin rating of your bulbs the more towards the purple end of the spectrum you go. The most light ouput is acheived in the 4,000k-4,500k range.
