Default help with my 93 626

hi people im new to this forum. i need some help with my 1993 mazda 626 2.0 . the only way i can start this car is by holding down the gas pedal and when it starts shes fine but! the rpms on the cluster show a very high idle speed of 1500 i have checked and found no vacum leaks. do you guys have any ideas wats going on. i have change fuel and air filter and also plugs and distributor and still have the same problem...

having to hold the gas pedal down to start it sounds like either a fuel pressure issue or jumped timing. high idle, i am not sure.

I had chronic EGR valve problems on a 94 626 years back. Created starting and idle problems, although not exactly as you described. Still, might be worth checking.
