Default will 98 626 motor work in a 2001 626 4 cyl 2.0L

I recently purchased an 01 Mazda 626 2.0L 4 cyl automatic with the FS engine. The guy before me hit something in the road andpunctured a hole in the oil pan and drove the car for an unknown amount of time. It has a rod knock that goes in and out...sometime you hear it, sometimes you don't.

Anyway, I was contacted by a local man that has a 98 Mazda 626 4 cylinder engine for sale. My question is, will it work in the 2001? I know that my engine has coil packs and I believe the 98 doesn't but can the coil packs be moved from my engine to his and is everything else the same?
I don't mind moving sensors over and what not. Does the block or head have the holes tapped and waiting for the coil pack bracket or am I looking at swapping heads etc?
Thanks in advance for your help!

C'mon guys....nobody knows this answer in a MAZDA 626forum? This is my first question here and so far I'm "0 for 0". Please respond if you do know whether this will work or not. I'd appreciate it. Thanks
