Default F/R Grinding Under Acceleration, mostly when Cold

Hi everyone, new here and my first Mazda3. I've had 2 Mazdaspeed MX-5s and another NB MX-5, so this is my first FWD Mazda.

I am having a grinding sound coming from the front passenger side wheel, maybe it could even be the transmission or CV axle. My symptoms are a pretty loud grinding, which seems to only be noticeable when the car hasn't been on the road for very long (cold start, it goes away after a while). The sound is intermittent based on rotation, as if something is off balance. It only happens when in gear, neutral or clutching in gets rid of the noise. It's noticeable in all gears, but seems to be when only under acceleration, cruising without accelerating does not reproduce the issue, only as I accelerate.

I haven't owned a car in a while, and I don't have the necessary tools to jack it up and check it out at the moment. Has anyone had similar issues? Any help is appreciated!

Does the sound go away after a short drive?

Yes it does, but after the car seems to be "warm enough". I can't say it directly correlates to the engine temp, but if I get going about 45mph it's gone pretty quick.
