Does making damage on the Mazda 3's body trigger its alarm?
Hi Guys,
Couple days ago a Mazda 3 parked outside of our apartment sounded loudly during the mid-night, so we went downstairs to find out what was going on. The owner was there too when we got there, and he showed us a dent which he said is new and it is about a size of beer cap. We want to find out if that was just because someone perhaps smacked the car with something, or someone was trying to break into it... If it is the later one, it is a little more serious for us who have cars parking downstairs.
By the way, the dent is on the front tire panel edge/bodyline, does anyone by any chance know how much it will probably cost for the owner to fix it? He wondered it that night as well.
Thanks,
Ken

well if the dent is that small, tell your friend he might as well try to get it out himself. You can buy the stuff at your nearest autoparts store to pop out dents, some do work pretty well. After you pop it out, buff it out a little bit to get any scratches off and it should look good after.
If someone did hit the car very hard with something, it may have set the alarm off, but it would've had to have been hit hard with a lot of force. And if the dent isn't that bad, i'm thinking the alarm couldn't have gone off from someone hitting it. Maybe he hit the button in his pocket from his apartment?

usually the alarm goes off when a window breaks or someone unlocks the door without the keyfob/key. THe only way his alarm would go off is if he had an upgraded alarm... or some sort of short... i have never heard of a little dent making a car alarm go off! then again ive set off car alarms with my subs lol
Some of the later model Mazda's have a "perimeter" alarm, which from what I've read here is an upgraded system which will trigger by shock or glass breakage. I have a 2010 with Tech package which has this feature, but I think some other 3's may have it depending on option packages.
