Default Distorted Gauge Plastic

Hello,

My son recently purchased a 2017 Mazda 3 and after a couple weeks he noticed that the plastic gauge covering had a couple spots that looked greasy. I instructed him to use a clean microfiber cloth to wipe it off but all that did was reveal a bigger issue.

It's not condensation as we haven't had rain in over a month.

It doesn't appear to be scratching as the surface is smooth.

I'm just guessing but I think the previous owner used a cleaning agent that stained the glass. They then applied something that temporarily masked it until we wiped it off.

Anyone have a suggestion on how to address it? It's only cosmetic but it really does suck to look at !

A caustic substance was sprayed or wiped on the plastic. Not much you can do , either replace it or remove it and sand and polish.

Check with your local Mazda parts department, you should be able to buy a replacement lens.
