direct injection
first post, hope it's not a repeat; does anyone know if the mzr2.5ltr. slated for the new 6 and next years 3 is gonna get d.i. i've seen that suggested in a few places but haven't seen anything confirmed. thanks.
The 2.5L MZR is a completely new engine release of the 2.3L MZR, featuring 2488cc (2.5L almost) of displacement, and it will be a DISI (direct injection spark ignition), just like the current 2.3L MZR. According to Mazda EU, the engine has a compression ratio of 9.7:1, and the engine for USA will be nearly identical to the one released in the EU. Mazda also claims a horsepower increase to around 168 hp, and achieve much better MPG than the current Mazda3/6.
thanks, that's great news. any idea though why the c.r. is only 9.7:1? from what i understand d.i. allows a much higher c.r. than that(12:1 or so in normally aspirated engines and even around 10:1 in turbos).
