Cooling Fan Replacement
Hello all, glad to be part of the forum. I have a 2010 Mazda 3 Hatch. My Cooling fan does not kick in, even when I put on the A/C. I replaced the Coolant Temp sensor checked the Fan fuse I even manually hooked up the fan to the battery and it works. Next step would be to check the relay, but for the life of me I can't find it. Is the relay or the fan control module that silver box connected to the fan shroud? If true, do I have to replace the whole Fan? If I have to replace the fan, is it dificult? Does it come out of the bottom or the top ? Thanks guys......
Thanks for the reply.....I have had two Mazda techs tell me not to call that silver box a Fan Control Unit or Module...To them it is just a plain fan motor...This is where my confusion lies.....Everywhere I look for Mazda parts there is no fan control module, it is just the whole fan assembly....
Well, they need to read the workshop manual, because that's exactly what it is, & what it is called in the wiring diagram. Altho it appears to be incorporated with the fan assembly, its not a seperate part.
Did you get this fixed?
I went thru 3 different ones. One would stay on, one would 2 would not turn on. All brand new. I tested it with the battery and it works. So... I don't understand this. Fuses are good, replaced thermostat, water pump, cooling sensor, im on the edge

Apologies! I don’t mean to reply and revive an old thread but- I’m having issues with my ‘12 Mazda 3. The fan has stopped working all together.
All signs pointed to the fan controller. I replaced it twice but it still wouldn’t turn on. If I apply a direct 12v to the fan, it’ll turn on. But otherwise, nothing.
It won’t engage with the AC and now it doesn’t turn on past the operating temperature of 220.
For anyone that has solved this, what was the solution? I’m waiting on a whole new fan assembly so hopefully that fixes it.
