Default Clear lens retrofit on 2012 OEM HID headlamp

I did the clear lens and spacer retrofit on my 05 3 with halogen headlamps. I absolutely loved the results.

I bought a new 3 last year and made sure to get the HID's. The projection is good and so is the the Bi xenon function. I've been in cars with a better adaptive system, but they still work fine. My only gripe is I really miss my blue and purple cutoff of my 05.

I'm almost at the 1 year mark with this car, and I'm starting to feel more comfortable performing work on it.

Has anyone done the clear lens swap on the 2010 or newer models? The Retrofit Source has the lens for the 04-09 models. Will it fit the new headlamps?

Also, will baking the headlights burn out/ruin the motors of the adaptive and auto-leveling functions?

Any input is appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Lev.

Baking shouldn't affect the motors at all. I mean people have been baking the 1st gen adjustable HID housings for years. I believe there was some possible issue with not getting the connection clicked all the way back in when reistalling making the motors not work, but sounds more like a user error thing.

I'm not sure about the size/shape of the 2nd gen HID lens. You might try e-mail Matt at the retrofit source and see if he has any measurements on the lens for that car. It's possible he either has one for it, or that it's the same size as another car which he has one for.

Thanks spots. If i can't find the lens, then i'll just do the spacing. The cutoff is sharp, it just has no color. I'm also concerned about getting the adjustments back to spec
