The L in LOF is lubrication, including door hinges, hood locks, and more importantly chassis moving parts.
But I don't think most of the oil change places, including dealers, would do that. So, here's the question: do we need to do it? if we do, where to apply lubrication, and what kind of grease do we need to use? Thanks.

There is almost nothing to lubricate in the traditional sense on a modern car. Zerk fittings are dinosaurs these days. The parts are more often than not, "use once, throw away."
I do use silicone spray on several things, such as bushing and door seals/weather stripping.
On my rear sway bar I used silicone grease on the mount bushings. (You remember that conversation I'm sure, Win.) The front is just too hard to reach and get to to disassemble and grease them, plus they haven't caused any noticeable noise or problems.
Lithium white for the door hinges and latches, same as always.
Ball joints are "self-lubricating, which simply put means, (again) "use once, throw away."

 

Rich, I sure do. Matter of fact, I have used up one box (small though) of "plumber's grease", which is silicon grease, thanks to you. I'll be looking for silicon spray next time when I go to pepboys. good stuff.
