Change Shift **** for 08

Can anyone give me some sort of ideas how to change the stock shift **** to a custom one?
Do i pull it up?twist it or any kind of method?
By the way....it's an auto

Twist counter-clockwise. And IIRC it's an 8mm thread though I don"t remember the pitch... probably 1.25.
