Default CAI Filter Maintenance

Okay, before 2.0 asks if I searched, yes.

I have not been able to find anything on the maintenance requirements of a CAI filter. Given the installation process, from Richard's post, it seems that it might be fairly difficult. I can't imagine that one would just install a CAI and not clean/replace the filter on a regular basis. So, the question is, how much trouble is it to service the filter once the CAI is installed?

MS suggests 20k miles for their AEM dry synthetic filter under normal (not so dusty) conditions. And yes, it probably is a PITA. I"ll let you know in 10k miles, or so....

That's kind of what I was thinking. [:@] And I am also of the opinion that the air filter, especially an open air filament, should be replaced /cleaned more often than 20K miles. That seems a little long to me, but I don't know. So, I am curious what the performance difference is between the CAI and an SRI. Is there enough difference to justify the added hassle?

i know people who have tried both ways on the dyno and there has been no change in power from CAI to SRI. if you are asking whether or not there is a change from stock to aftermarket, yes there is a difference. mainly just deleting the stock airbox is the major change.

Thanks Wes, that is a huge help. I want an intake but I do not want a hassle. I believe I will opt for the SRI. Hmmm, now which one...
