Default Cabin Air Filter

So does the 3 have a cabin air filter? I always see conflicting reports and just want to get to the bottom of this. My 6 did, but I need to know if the 3 does. Thanks in advance!

'03(Europe/Asia/Australia)-'04's did not. They can be retrofitted.

So Virgin, I am guessing it is in the same spot as the 6's then? Acess it through the glove box, and remove the cover?

It is under the RS console cover from pics I've seen, but I don't have one. Figured, I'd lived this long w/o one, why would I spend (+/-) $40 a year on a new one.

the mazda 3 does have a cabinair filter. it is located on the pass side on the air box located under the dash. you should pull the glove box out(for visibility). pull the fuse box down & disconnect its connectors & remove it. you should then removed the fuse box bracket (two 12mm nuts) & then on the air box you will see a cover right next to where the bracket was placed that has 3 or four phillips head screws. removed the screws pop the cover & they are inside one below the other. pull the bottom one & the top one will fall down. reverse & repeat

That was really thoughtful of the engineers to put this common maintenance item in such a convenient location.

That's one reason I'm glad mine doesn't have one.

So let me get this straight, woodurb, the cabin filter is located beneath the glove compartment under (above actually) that kick panel, or is it inside the base (forward) of the console, underneath the HVAC controls, which is where I always thought it was? Don't you have to remove the RS kick panel of the console to access it?
