Bose Stereo Questions
Hello all!
I've been searching for answers on this and thus far haven't found much.
I have a 2014 Mazda 3 Grand Touring 6-speed with the factory Bose stereo system. Unfortunately, the door speakers and three dash speakers are blown. I've found information (not sure if true) stating the Bose stereo works off of a 2 ohm system while most other stereo systems and components run off of a 4 ohm system. Is this true?
IF it is, can I use after market speakers with the factory amp without burning it up? I'm sure using 4 ohm speakers on a 2 ohm amp will cause issues.
If I can use after market speakers, does anyone know what works best? (manufacturer/specific speakers/etc) I'd like to keep everything factory if possible, but am open to using after market components if I have no other choice.
Thank you in advance.
Endy.

Bose is 2 ohm.. If your run an amp that is specification for 4 and 6 ohm speakers you should will be "muddled" and reduced and it is possible to damage both the amp and the 4 or 6 ohm speakers. I would be more concerned frying your BOSE amp.
There is way to do it but it requires lot's more money and a little stereo upgrading knowledge to do it correctly .
Contacting BOSE directly will confirm

Callisto,
Thanks for the response!
Yeah, I was afraid of that. I've seen several Youtube videos of people installing after market speakers with the stock amp. It seemed sus to me, so I check on the specific speakers shown in the videos and yep. They're all 4 ohms. Those amps will glow red hot I'm sure.
Looks like I have to find factory replacements. I've been searching but do you know of any site off hand that sells new drivers? Everything I've seen are for used ones.
Appreciate the knowledge!

Ah! Good to know! Thanks man!
I think I'll try to find new drivers for now. Maybe in the future i can install a completely new system, but that's a fight for another day.
Thank you guys for all the information. You've been a big help!

Bottom line its not worth taking the chance do it correctly and do it safe
Bose will state this :
Bose does not recommend using speakers with a different ohm rating than the original Bose speakers. Using speakers with a higher ohm rating than the original Bose speakers can lead to inefficient operation and potential damage to the amplifier. Bose speakers are designed to work with their specific ohm rating to ensure optimal performance and sound quality. If you are considering replacing your Bose speakers, it is important to use the correct ohm rating to maintain the integrity and functionality of your Bose amplifier.
