Default Bomz CAI

Hi all im new here. I baught a BOMZ CAI from ebay about 2 months ago and havent had a problem with it at all. However i have noticed ever since i installed the CAI i get a delay when i press on the gas pedal..... Do any of you think that if i make the BOMZ into a short ram just taking out the second pipe and adding the filter to the first will it make a difference as far as the delay goes. I have a M 3s ...... 2.3

just out of curiosity, where do you live? a short ram intake is typically good if you live in a hot environment such as Florida or places that are prone to flooding (have big puddles of water).

normally when you install an aftermarket part such as an intake, you are supposed to notice a better throttle response as well as less shift lag and a better low-end torque. maybe the intake cone is too small to suck in enough air to satisfy your vehicle. could you send us a link showing your exact intake, or do you have a picture of it? maybe the intake has too many curves in it which will make the performance aspect of it suffer tramatically...

The Mazda 3 shares the same MAF as the Protege 1.6L.

It has a long and well-documented history of hesitation problems when adding aftermarket intakes.

However, some intakes perform better than others. As a little 'plug' for myself, the Simota intakes I sell have not had this problem on the 3 or the 1.6L Protege. Speculation is that the diameter of the piping has something to do with it, although it's not really proven.

You could try it I suppose. Did you reset your ECU the first time you changed your intake?
