Bolt Pattern/Wheels
Hi all,
A friend of mine has a 2009 Mazda 3 sport hatch. I believe it has 17s. He wants to pick up some winter tires and steeles.
I'm wondering, what bolt pattern and specs do these cars support? Also, will 15's or 16's fit without any rubbing?
Thanks

You can't go down to 15's as the brakes won't fit inside, 16's will work
5x114.3mm bolt spacing. Back spacing varies but wheels in the 6.5-7.5 width with backspacing 48-60mm seem to work fine.
I have snow tires mounted on stock Mazda6 17" wheels - they work great.

For winter wheels and tires, stick with the thinnest and tallest tire you can get. This will help you "cut through" the snow instead of simply plowing over it. A longer contact patch and more weight/sq. in of contact is always a good thing in the slipperies.
The OE 16's are 6.5" wide, you can go to a 185/65 or even 185/70's that should be close to the OE circumference of the 205's.
