Default Blower motor resistor 2017 Mazda3

Hello! I have a 2017 Mazda3 touring with 75k miles on it. The fan to the climate control stopped working. After researching forums, it sounds like it could be a bad resistor so I went ahead and ordered one so I can replace it myself. Hopefully that will fix the problem so I won’t have to take it to a dealer. Problem is, I can’t find any threads or videos on where the blower resistor is on this car, much less how to change it. The part number is ru978. Does anyone know of or have any resources (diagrams or instructions on installation) that could be helpful? Thanks !

probably not helpful this late, but i found a video of a guy replacing the transistor on the CX-5. It's to the left of the passenger seat footwell, you'll have to take the panel off. The big trick is that there's a clip on the transistor that you have to depress to get it off.

Have you tested the fan to confirm its not at fault?

Also climate AC models don't run a fan resistor, they run a power MOSFET. Base models with AC will use resistor.

As long as you have the same gen and somewhat relatable part I don't see a problem. Check something like rockauto or parts store if you wanna check if it's something you can use. Same specs, blades, output etcetc... But honestly you can just install it and see how it goes.
