My 08' has only 13,000 miles on it and the air conditioner is driving me nuts! It has a loud mechanical noise to it when the car is in an idle. Does anybody have any suggestions or have the same problem. The whole car seems noisy to me at a stand still.

 

I've had the same thing (2008 Mazda 3 GT 5 spd)
I park next to a wall and have turned the fan on and off while the engine is running and you can hear the air-conditioner groan and vibrate when it kicks in. I hear a lot of people say they hear a diesel noise coming from the engine. I wonder if it isn't the same sound!

 

I HAD THE SAME THING GOING ON... I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER... AND THEY REPLACED THE BELT... I THINK IT HAPPENS TO ALL MASZDAS.. L0L.... IF I WERE YOU TAKE A LOOK AT THE BELT... TRY REPLACING IT.. THAT SHOULD DO THE JOB.....

 

Wow, I didn't know caps were ever in fashion......

 

Same deal with me. Sounds like noisey lifters. But, it was just the A/c belt. Replaced under warranty.

 

I have between 16k and 17k and havent had that problem yet. 2008 i Sport

 

2004, 43,500 miles, no problems... except that it's weak.
