This is a better response:
One thing absent from this production engine is the 4-2-1-exhaust manifold, designed to allow the engine to run at an even higher 13:1 compression ratio. As it turns out, the SkyActiv engine was never intended for the current Mazda3 but was rushed into the product cycle. That header, however, wouldn’t fit and so it had to be left out at the expense of some power and torque. The difference, says Mazda3 engineering chief Kenichiro Saruwatari is more in the low and mid-range torque. It will, however, make an appearance on the upcoming CX-5.

Current Compression Ratio 12:1.

Shipo, I hope this helps convince you to start modding and stop hating modding! With your background, you could actually give us good feedback to modding, however, you are too biased.

I was wondering if the COBB ACCESSPORT help in bolt on gains?

Bias has nothing to do with it, science, physics, and testing under repeatable conditions are the basis of the advice I give.

Y'all are silly. The Skyactiv engine is highly modifiable and they could not fit the 4-2-1 in the mazda3 with its current chassis. Not enough room. It is believed that once tuners get their hands on the cars, performance gains will be at least double on these compared to previous mazdas due to the high compression. Have you driven one? they're docile and have a feel like they were made for the masses. There is definitely room to stretch out a true racing engine here
