Default After Market Radio Installation

I am looking for information on installing a Sony XNV-660BT in my 2007 Mazda 3 S 2.3 Liter. I would like to know if someone could explain the connectors that are installed to the factory radio and if the Sony will work in my car. I have already removed the radio, liter outlet, and center console, just looking for some good information on installation. Thank you.

Other than basic tools you'll need a dash install kit and a wiring harness. Well strictly speaking you don't need a wiring harness, but getting one will keep you from needing to cut any of the OEM wiring so the install will be easier.

The install kit goes into the space the OEM came out of since the double DIN stereo you're getting isn't as large as the OEM, nor the same shape. The wiring harness will plug into the OEM wiring and you'll put that together with the harness that comes with the new one. It's best if you solder the wires together, but barring that you can use crimp connectors if nothing else. Just be sure all your connections are secure so nothing comes loose later.

Alternately you could go with an OEM-style replacement like the Eonon D5102. It's a direct drop in replacement for the OEM unit, does NAV, blue tooh, DVD's, backup camera, etc.
