Yeah I put a pioneer AVIC-N2 in mine over the weekend. I found all the parts i.e dash mount and wiring kits online no problem. They both fit. The stereo makes a world of difference. I went to a local stereo store to buy speakers. The dealer shocked me at first, he said to wait till after the new head unit was in, listen to it then decide about speakers. Dude was he right. The speakers sound ten times better.

Did you do the work yourself? My boyfriend is pickin up his new 3 sport on Friday and we want to put in a new deck ourselves but we arent quite sure how take the dash off.. is it screwed in or are there clips? where do we start? we would save some serious dough doing the work ourselves and we like to do this stuff but I mean its a new car and we dont want to break anything.. To disassemble the dash you have to start with the black plastic piece that goes along the top of the dash on the passenger side. It simply clips off and there are screws underneath that eventually lead to the middle of the dash. Just be careful with the clips. I recently installed an amp and new speakers. My 3 now resembles a Christmas tree with the amount of wires it has running through it.

I just had a jl audio 12" sub with a rockford amp put into my 05 3 and it sounds great. everyone who hears my system thinks I have more then one sub instaled. I do plan on adding more and will have a custom made box put in.

I'm going to replace my BMW M3 with a Mazda 3 as soon as I sell my car. I do lots of driving and the gas prices are starting to bum me out. I'll likely keep the stock head unit and add the following:
JL Audio 500/5 Amp
Boston Acoustic Z6 front seperates
JL Audio 12" sub (single sub) with level control added up front
keep stock rear speakers

I want to replace the stock head unit in my 3 also, I have the dash kit but need the harness and the PAC unit for the steering wheel controls. Will the PAC unit work with just about any single din stereo?

I would like to get a stereo with the red lights to match the rest of the car. Any suggestions?
Has anyone had any experience with Dual (the brand)head units?
