Well it looks like Mazda is continuing the Speed3's. I was under the impression that 2008 was the last year. They must be selling very well. I just visited the Mazda page and they have the 2009Mazda Speed3 as a listed car, so they must have added another model year.

Iwonder if 2009 will bethe last model yearfor the speed3, or maybe Mazda will slightly change the body style and call it something else in 2010...

Any thoughts?

 

Historically speaking Mazda only runs the speed models for about two years at the end of the current model's run. Whether that's because they want to spark some interest in the standard model and get as much out of it before it's redesigned, or because the other speed models haven't sold as well as the speed3 I'm not sure. I believe originally the new 3 was supposed to be coming out in 2009, however it was pushed back to 2010, so that could be why the MS3 has been available for three years. Whatever the reason I somehow doubt they'll continue making it after the new 3 is debuts next fall.
