2009 mazda 3 manual transmission. I went out to drive yesterday and it's not shifting right. The shifter is not springing back to the home positions. When I pull it left in between 1st and 2nd gear it stays there instead of going back to home. Same as pulling it right in between 5th and reverse. I pulled the center console out and the spring inside that helps it back to home seems fine. After driving it around for half an hour it seemed to be working fine again. Car sat overnight and went out to it today and same thing. Could this be a transmission fluid issue? Any help is appreciated.

 

Sounds like a linkage issue, definitely not the tranny fluid.

 

I'm with Shipo, linkage, not fluid. Maybe binding in the shifter pivot?
