I am a super newbie to posting in Mazda forums. My 2004 3 - 2.3 has 240K miles on it; she has taken me all over the country - multiple times. Only have had to change the oil and the tires. But now, these weird little nuances are popping up and this one in particular is driving me bat-****. I've been able to self-soothe her back to mostly tip top shape, and I take pride in DIY, but I need some help....

The door lock function works on both the key fob remote, and the interior doors. All the doors lock. Problem is, the remote, and the interior switches only UNLOCK the driver side door.

I've checked the fuses, I've replaced the relays. At this point, she is upstairs in the garage with the driver's side door taken apart and I realized I am totally in above my head.

Anyone want to help this 30 year old DIY babe sort out her midlife crisis?

Test the wiring to the door lock actuator, most likely the actuator has died.

 

Thank you, grim_reaper. Can you tell me how to test/what exactly I'm testing for? I have a volt meter...

 

What happens if you double press the unlock button on the remote?

 

Nothing. It unlocks the driver door just the same as if you press it once.
