Hi guys I have a 08 ms3 and it comes with the HID headlights. I was wondering if anyone has done a LED conversion? Normally I would just swap them but these headlight assemblies come with the ballast. Could I just plug the LEDs with no modifications or would I have to remove the ballast or something?

 

HIDs and LEDs are not interchangeable; that and LEDs don't do any better job of lighting than HIDs so why muck around with the swap?

 

I have a pair of LEDs on my other car and had HIDs before that and I found that the LEDs actually lit up way better than the HIDs so there's that. Also the HIDs are more expensive plus I'll have to pay for a ballast which is anywhere from 40-80$ should one go out. So to me it would be worth it.

 

It has nothing to do with LEDs, it is all about the housing and lensing; like it or don't, believe it or not, LEDs do not light better.

 

Okay I appreciate the info but I want to get rid of the HIDs bottom line more expensive to replace. Has anyone got the halogen headlight assemblies swapped on to there car? If so how's it done?
