Smile Wheel bearing or driveshaft ?

Morning all I have the job as always of working on my grandsons Mazda 2 petrol 2008 .At first I thought it might be a bearing but now I am not so sure .I, drove it the other day and the noise was louder than the week before .There is no juddering and it does appear to be coming from the drivers side.Is there any way of checking then drive shaft or is this a common problem ..any advice welcome ..

Spin all 4 wheels by hand,( as fast as you can) place your hand on the hub or shock & feel for roughness in the bearings, & also have a good listen.

Also carefully rub your hand over the tyres for any feathering, scalloping or any other tread distortion.
