Your best bang for the buck would be to sell your car and buy a faster car.

Forgetting for a moment the minimum five thousand dollar investment to make a Mazda2 an eight second machine, it wouldn't be much of a daily driver and it would probably get worse mileage than our full-sized minivans.

What he said. ^ ^ ^
A custom turbo kit running a massive turbo, Nitrous w/meth add-on, bigger injectors and (probably) fuel pump, and a specially tuned, or tunable ECU for starters.
And that's AFTER you build up the bottom end with all forged internals to handle the massive boost you'd be running. Then the transmission would need all new internals to handle all that power w/o falling out of the car every time you did a burn out. They might have to be custom cut gears and that will run a ton of money. An LSD would certainly be in order to keep the traction where you want it.

What you're purposing would not a daily driver be. You would have to be financially committed and it would likely be a dedicated race car after. It would not be very reliable after all that.. or as Dale said, very drivable on the streets either.

Believe me when I tell you that it is extremely hard to make any real power gains w/these cars when you're on a budget.
An intake will gain you nothing. A good quality after market or custom exhaust, perhaps a little more than nothing. The "free Mods" do nothing. There is no magic bullet, and don't buy into the hype many of these companies are trying to sell you. You will only be lighter for it in most cases.
