Rear Springs
Hi Everyone,
I have a 2009 Mazda2 TS2. I want to replace my rear suspension springs, as they are slightly corroded. I did not find the springs' specifications in the owner's manual, as I want to find a spring which is similar to the OEM part.
I have been recommended that springs from Sachs, KYB, Bilstein, or Eibach are OEM-Equivalent and are of high quality.
I am requesting the forum to help me with the specification of the Spring, and also, which brand to choose from?

OEM seldom on many platforms gives out the spring specifications which include the coil number, bar diameter and extended and compressed measurements.
There are ways you can do this but if you're asking them maybe you should not be doing it?? Sorry. That's my opinion. But if you look long enough you will figure out the tricks of the trade some of of know when engineering and developing new suspension parts or have the direct experience to use something not applicated for a specific platform and model in that platform.
I run KYB gas-adjust on the rear of my Mazda 3. There is NO application from KYB for them.
As for aftermarket springs the brands you mentioned don't really have a stock replacement only an upgrade from stock and generally they all lower the vehicle ride height which they do states the approx. end ride height.
As for you thinking high quality, I guess that depends on what you mean by that. All of those companies use the same basic raw material, and all have the same basic methods of manufacturing that springs. Its just each has their own idea what works better and therefore not duplicating another manufactures line of parts. That's all. And I know this form being a distributor or retailer of every brand you mentioned from one time or another both in places I have worked and my own automotive business.
Lastly it is ALWAYS a BAD idea to upgrade the suspension with firmer springs on one axle only. You need to consider the front and rear suspension and what you are trying to achieve and not just assume firmer is going to be better just because your stock OEM spring have *corrosion (?) on them.
* it would be very odd (uniusaul) that only your rear coil springs had corrosion or rust and no other suspesion part?
