So I took the car for a drive today. To me the brakes feel ok. And when i slammed on the brakes, the ABS kicked in but the ABS light didn't come on on the dash.

What causes the brake pedal to not come back up after applying it?

 

In regards to other posts, im not suggesting you poke around with your brakes, I was just trying to answer your questions to the best of my knowledge and give some pointers.

I've suggested everything I can think of to check to be honest. Others may disagree but in my opinion, I think a main dealer will just guess and replace parts at your expense. Happened to me in the past, and a family member so i don't use them any more. Like others have mentioned, if you don't feel comfortable doing any brake work then take it to a garage. Maybe try some local garages, explain the situation and let them have a look. I'd say it at least wants a full brake fluid replacement, again, up to you if you tackle this yourself or take it to a garage.

 

ABS light coming on usually means there is a fault somewhere with the ABS system, so if it didn't come on and ABS actually works as it should to me that suggests everything is ok. Dont take my word for it, this is just my opinion

 

Yeah strange right. My next steps will be to check pads, discs and sliders on the calipers and do a full fluid change. These are within my skill set, lol, so I feel comfortable doing these.
