Default Alarm draining battery

Hi all
My mum has a 2005 mazda2 that recently seems to be having an issue where the alarm is draining the battery.

So the alarm went off a couple of times and the battery was drained. Battery replaced and seems ok but it drained again and we then charged the battery. Since then we have not locked the car so the alarm is off. Since then the battery has been fine.

Any ideas?

Can the alarm be overridden or replaced?

Dan
