The first thing is to check the condition and health of the battery. The ONLY way is to have it load tested.

Please look around on various thread topics about how to properly have a battery load tested. You will find dozen of HOW-TOs on that subject.

Ok hate to tell you this but it still did not answer my question unless the battery was load test in the shop or retail outlet before you left and installed it. Let's say it was then the next thing would have been to check the cables at their mounting points. Especially the ground by removing it and checking to see that there is a clean and bare metal. Mazda's hate a bad or less than a near perfect ground connection!

We change new batteries at least 3-5 a week in the shop. The wholesalers we get them from now when they deliver know NOT to leave before wither I or only one of my Auto technicians load testes the battery. The average is 1 out of 17 batteries fail a load test and they are all new to be sold. The wording new to be sold does not by any means the age of the battery which can be up to 6-8 months or more from the time it was actually manufactured.
