2017 mazda 2 whining noise

Hi all, i have just bought a 67 plate 1.5 mazda 2 and on the drive home at 70mph the engine has a rather loud whining noise. Is this normal?

Are you 100% certain its from the engine, and not the transmission or brakes or suspension?

I'm pretty sure its coming from the engine, its really difficult to ascertain where its definitely coming from.
