I have a 75bhp 1.3 and I think it's not a bad run around but for a light 1.3 the performance is just woeful.
I'm comparing it to my old 1.3 Micra that to be honest would slaughter it. I struggle to stick with 1 litres. I have run diagnostics but doesn't appear to throw up any issues or codes.
Are they just poor performers or do they have parts restricting them or common faults???

Any ideas welcome

 

I rather doubt there is anything restricting the engine; Mazda does a very good job of wringing pretty much every last bit of power out of their engines. The fact is, you have a 2,300 pound car with only 91 hp (not sure where you got the 75bhp figure from); in no way is that going to be considered a fast car. Question, which transmission do you have?

Sorry it's 84bhp which only makes it worse. It's not a particularly heavy car and I'm not expecting super speed but some would be nice.
It's a manual 5 speed.
It's just it's seems on par in bhp but not performance
