I had the first oil change last week since we got the car and the shop I've used for years charged for an extra quart becauseit took more than their standard fill. I think that its wrong and may get it fixed the next time I'm there. So, does the V6 take more oil thantypical motors?

They've never charged me more for my 3.4 V6 Toyota.

 

Engine oil capacity for the V6 is listed at 5.5 quarts with filter change in the OE shop manual although I have found it usually takes closer to 6 quarts for a fill to the top mark on the dipstick. Standard fill at most oil change places is 5.0 qts.
