Default Unidentified buzzing tone from dashboard

I've an 04 tribute that has started emitting a buzzer/tone sound from the dash completely at random, I've read forums that mention a set of five tones but this is a continuous sound. There are no warning lights that accompany it and it stops when I tap the break pedal (not actually activate the break). Has anyone come across this before, I've read through the whole manual and as far as it's concerned no such sound should exist
exit. Any advice appreciated

Sounds like it could be a leaking brake booster.

As in an electric buzzer? The booster was more of a hiss from the air flow, or at least mine was...

Yes it's a high pitched electronic buzz. Definitely an alarm of some kind but to what I can't figure.

Does it make the noise when the ignition is on? or only when the engine is running? Disconnect & block the vacuum line to the brake booster to eliminate it as the cause of the noise.

Is this your first hand car or 2nd hand car? Quite often previous car owner added some device which triggers the buzz.
