Default Troubles with Radio??

Hello Everybody, I had my 02 Mazda Tribute for about 3 years now and never had a problem with it. Until recently when I had a dead battary. I had brought a battary from Pepboys and installed it myself. Everything works fine until I noticed I could not access my cd player/changer.

Should there be reset button somewhere. I took it to my nearest Mazda dealer and they were gonna charge me $150 just to take a look at it. Now if I have no other choice, I would pay it but first I thought I would ask for any ideas on how to fix it myself.

Let me know.

Seems like I had a similiar problem in an older vehicle I had. If I remember right, there was a lock code that engaged when the power supply was cut off. The code had to be re-entered to make it work again. I had a buddy who worked at a dealership that was able to get the code and get it working for me. Sorry I don't know more about where he came up with it.

It sounds like you have a premium player in it that has an anti-theft code. If you are unable to find the code (may be written in glove box or in manual) then you have to go through Mazda, or have a buddy at a Mazda dealership as mentioned prior. It is insane that they would charge that type of money, but they all do (Honda, Pontiac, etc).
