Cool Tribute user Questions - help

Hi,

Just got a great deal on a clean, well maintained 06 Tribute V6 with only 16K miles. First time Mazda owner. Some quick questions - please offer any advice, replies to any of the questions. Thank you.

1. I have some chargers and a radar detector, etc. plugged into a DC 3-way power splitter. How long does the 12 volt plug (in front of the gear shift) stay active after turning off the car? Is it live all the time?

2. I have a year left on the 48/60K bumper to bumper manuf. warranty (checked in Mazda USA to confirm). Anyone out there purchase a MEPP (mazda ext. protection plan)? Did it pay off?

3. Can the Tribute S model have a trailer hitch attached?

4. If I have a sun roof installed, do I loose the overhead dome light with over-the-shoulder lights? Does that get replaced by a front dual-map light, sunglasses holder, sunroof controller?

5. Anyone still use the factory "Continental" tires? Are wheel lock lug nuts worth it?

6. Does the 4WD indicator light come on when 4WD is being used or just when service needed? How do you know when all the tires are in use and can I control this (i.e. turn it on if stuck in a snow storm or for beach-sand driving)?

7. In channel vs. over window adhesive wind deflectors? Why is it impossible to find in-channel for this year?

Thanks for any replies to any of my questions.

So far I love this SUV.

thanks
Jake
