Default Transmission cooler

I have an '02 LX V6 - did not have the Towing package on it when I bought it. Would it have a transmission cooler?

If not, should I consider one since I use the car for towing a small trailer? (usually less than 1000lb, but occasionally around 2000lb).

Where in the world are you?
What's the average summer & winter temperatures?
Do you tow up & down hills?
How far do you tow?
How often do you tow?

In the heat of South Texas. HOT summers, slightly +/- freezing winters. Mild hills. I use the trailer for hardware store runs and a heavy motorcycle once in a blue moon.

I may be over thinking it for the amount I use the trailer...

Strongly advise against towing with a Tribute. The transmission is apparently from a Mondeo as best I can gather.

If the Tribute sharing the internals with a Mondeo is true, what's wrong with the Mondeo trans?

I spent 7 years working on Fords in New Zealand, I don't recall any issues with Mondeo's used for towing.
