Default No start after overheating?

OK, girlfriend was driving my 04 Tribute last night...She said it got HOT, don't know for sure if it did or not, but must have as the overflow tank was empty when I got to car on side of the road...Now it will turn over fine, just won't start up! Any ideas??? I switched around a couple of the relays in under hood box thinking maybe fuel pump relay, if it has one....Finally had to get it towed..."Check fuel cap" light stays on even AFTER replacing it with a NEW fuel cap, had not driven far after replacing fuel cap...Any ideas??

Highly likely is blown the headgasket big time.

Time for a compression test, leakdown test & coolant system pressure test, plus a combustion gas test too.

Most likely blew the headgaskets. Could even be warped or cracked cylinder heads if it overheated bad enough. Could've started off as a simple coolant leak but once that engine get to hot, you'll warp something.
Good luck
p.s. just saw how old this post is lol
